This position is a Global Health Corps (GHC) fellowship role. GHC is a leadership development organization focused on building the next generation of diverse, disruptive global health leaders. , and Zambia.
The Integrated Non-communicable Disease (INCD) Quality Improvement Coordinator will be responsible for leading the ground implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of INCD quality improvement projects at local health centers and district hospitals, designed to raise the quality of processes for INCD healthcare provided to patients. Under the supervision of the INCD Associate Director, the coordinator will work directly with teams in the INCD, Mentorship and Enhanced Supervision – Quality Improvement (MESH-QI,) Health Information System (HIS), and Ministry of Health (MOH) programs, at both the district hospital and health center levels, to implement selected QI projects and regularly disseminate the findings to this forum.
At the end of the fellowship period, the findings will be leveraged to develop a quality improvement framework for INCD that can be applied to other health facilities in the Partners In Health (PIH)-supported districts and throughout the country.
Partners In Health/Inshuti Mu Buzima (PIH/IMB) is a health and social justice organization that works to comprehensively support the Rwanda public health system in three rural districts and to create service delivery models that can influence national policy and scale-up. Over the past nine years, we have delivered integrated non-communicable disease (INCD) services in the PIH supported districts health centers. Today three district hospitals and 43 health centers are scheduled to open INCD clinics, which will require a high volume of related quality improvement (QI) support. INCD priorities include early detection and management of diabetes, heart failure, hypertension, and chronic respiratory diseases using specific protocols. Past experience shows significant documentation and reporting errors in various aspects of the treatment process. The INCD Quality Improvement Coordinator will assist in the intensive and coordinated efforts to address errors and improve the quality of treatment across the full spectrum of NCD services.
