QTEM GMAT/GRE Master Scholarship for International Students

The Departments of Economics and Finance and Business and Management are offering GMAT/GRE scholarship for QTEM to cover the cost of the exam for students. International students are eligible to apply for this scholarship programme.

  • Study Subject: The QTEM (Quantitative Techniques for Economics and Management network) Master’s program presents a challenging opportunity for outstanding students willing to develop skills in analytical and quantitative techniques and decision-making in an international context, aimed at students who are willing to enroll or are currently enrolled in the first year of the LUISS Master’s degree program in Economics and Finance
    with a major in Banks and Financial Intermediaries, Economics or Finance, or in the LUISS Master’s degree program in Corporate Finance.
  • Scholarship Award: In order to support the students who will participate in the QTEM, for mobility 2018-19, the Departments of Economics and Finance and Business and Management will provide a GMAT / GRE scholarship to cover the cost of the exam for students who:
  • Have exceeded the GMAT with a minimum of 600 required or GRE equivalent (the amount will be paid only once, regardless of the number of attempts the student has made)
  • Will be selected and will start by QTEM
  • They will be mobile starting from September 2018

This call is open to:

  1. LUISS students enrolled in the 1st year of the Master’s Degree in Economics and Finance (all majors) or of the Master’s Degree in Corporate Finance during the academic year 2017-18.
  2. Students enrolled in the final year of the Bachelor’s Degree 1 – both from LUISS and from other Universities – who are willing and able to enroll in the Master’s Degree in Economics and Finance (all majors) or in the Master’s Degree in Corporate Finance during the a. y. 2018 2019. Selected students must graduate by the Summer Graduation Session of the a. y. 2017-18 (July 2018).
  3. Graduates with a Bachelor’s Degree 1 – both from LUISS and from other Universities – who have not graduated before the Summer Graduation Session of the a. y. 2015-16 (July 2016) and who have not enrolled yet in the Master’s Degree in Economics and Finance (all majors) or in the Master’s Degree in Corporate Finance.

English Language Requirements: 1) C1 English language4 certificate, which must be submitted by the application deadline mentioned in paragraph F Application Procedure.
The English language may be certified by one of the following:

  • International Certificates TOEFL min. 91/120 IBT; IELTS min. 7; Cambridge: FCE (First Certificate in English), min. grade A University
  • Certificate (produced by a University Language Centre) or a self-declaration printed from the web self-service
  • Bachelor Degree entirely taught in English (obtained or ongoing)
  • International Secondary School Diploma.

2) GMAT certificate with a minimum score of 600/800 (a grade between 650 and 800 is strongly recommended) or an equivalent GRE (please refer to this website to find the table of equivalence LINK).
The GMAT/GRE with the required score may be submitted after the application deadline mentioned in paragraph F APPLICATION PROCEDURE, though priority in the selection will be given to the students who already possess the aforementioned certificate. The GMAT/GRE with the required score must be in any case submitted no later than May 14th, 2018 and, should a candidate fail to do so, they will be automatically excluded from the program.

CSIRO Synthetic Biology Future Science Fellowships for International Students

The CSIRO Synthetic Biology Future Science Fellowships scheme is funded through the CSIRO Synthetic Biology Future Science Platform (SynBio FSP). Fellowships will be hosted at a Host Organisation (usually an Australian University, but other Australian research organizations may also be eligible).

    5. Statement of Intent
    Your statement of intent should be 500-1000 words. The statement should convince the faculty on the selection committee that you have solid achievements that demonstrate the potential for success in graduate study. Ideally, it should address the following:

1) Introduction: Introduce yourself, your interests and your motivations. This section should be brief and to the point (not an autobiography).
2) Summarize your undergraduate, and if applicable graduate career.

  1. a) Research conducted. Mention with whom, the title of the project, what your responsibilities were, and the outcome. Write technically, since professors will read your statement.
    b) Significant papers or thesis project you completed, as well as anything scholarly beyond your curricular requirements.
    c) Work experience, especially responsibilities related to your proposed field of graduate study to which you are applying.

3) Discuss the relevance of your recent and current activities: If you graduated prior to applying to graduate school, write about what you have been doing and what you learned during this time. Explain how this experience helped you to focus on what you want to do during your graduate studies.
4) Elaborate on your academic interests: Indicate what you want to study in graduate school in enough detail to convince the faculty reviewing the application that you understand the scope of research in their discipline, and are engaged in current research themes.

  1. a) Indicate your area of interests. You may pose a question, define a problem, or specify a theme that you would like to address, and questions that arise from current research in the area. This should be addressed clearly and thoroughly.
    b) Look on the web at professors and their research. Look specifically for professors whose research interests are aligned with yours and indicate it.
    c) End the statement in a positive manner, demonstrating your excitement and readiness for the challenges ahead.
  2. References
    Applicants will be asked to provide the names of at least two references (professors, supervisors, employers, or others able to comment on your academic performance and suitability for graduate studies. Recommendations should specifically address your ability to succeed in your proposed academic program and discuss any experience that may have prepared you to succeed in the program. Your recommenders will be required to fill out an online recommendation form which will be automatically requested by entering their contact details on the application form. 1. Background

The Nile Basin Initiative (NBI) is a partnership of the riparian states of the Nile. The NBI seeks to develop the river basin resources in a

cooperative manner, share substantial socioeconomic benefits, and promote regional peace and security. Within the framework of the NBI, through its investment arm, Nile Equatorial Lakes Subsidiary Action Program (NELSAP,  the Governments of Burundi, Rwanda and Tanzania have received financial support from the World Bank for implementation of the Regional Rusumo Falls Hydroelectric Project (RRFHP).

NELSAP Coordination Unit established a Project Implementation Unit (PIU) in charge of day to day implementation of the project. The PIU is led by a Project Manager with a core team of Project staff and support staff.

2. Purpose

The Regional Rusumo Falls Hydroelectric Project /Administrative Assistant Site Office, is a professional support staff of the Rusumo project at the field Office. She/He is recruited to carry out general secretarial duties such as organizing the field office, filing and creating conducive working environment;

  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail, telephone calls and keep an appropriate filing system;
  • Screening of all in-coming and out-going correspondences, extracting information regarding documents, visitors, missions and meetings;

5.Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor Degree in Languages, Mass Communication, Public Relations, Information Management, Social Sciences, Business Studieswith strong practical skills and experience in Office Management or any other technically related discipline from a recognized University;
  • At least five years of practical working experience in a busy multicultural project or public sector (Government).
  • Working knowledge and experience in international or Donor funded organizations will have added advantage.
  • Knowledge of methods and practices in Office Management, Customer Care , documents translations/interpretationsand/ or Public Relations;
  • Demonstrated efficient skills in the standard applicationssoft wares such as Ms Word, Ms Excel, Ms Access and Ms Power Point, Internet Browsers and search engines will be critical.
  • Demonstrated efficient skills in translation of documents from English and /or French will be an extra credit;
  • Willingness to take initiatives if necessary;
  • Willingness to work for extended hours to meet strict deadlines;

Job Purpose

Reporting to Finance and Operations Manager the holder of this position will support Alert staff and partners and contribute to the project’s impact and sustainability by ensuring compliance and sound management of organization vehicle assigned to her/him, in line with Rwandan Law, donor regulations and International Alert’s policies, procedures and minimum standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Duty to drive at a reasonable speed
  • Transport ALERT staff and visitors;
  • Duty to be aware of your surroundings (Driver also has a duty to remain alert and be aware of their environment around their vehicle
  • Duty to maintain control of the car, inspect vehicle for defects and propose repairs and maintenance;
  • Duty to maintain and use vehicle’s equipment; Driver has a duty to keep her/his vehicle maintained and in safe operating condition. All lights and brakes need to be working properly.
  • Duties imposed by laws in Rwanda, Drivers in Rwanda are subject to laws that codify other duties a driver on the road must abide by. If these laws are violated, a negligence/car accident claim can be made against the offending party, and any fines shall be paid by the
